The inaugural Runner Film Festival hosted by Ravestar Productions is to be held in New York City between the dates of July 21st — August 04 2023.

Meant to showcase a diverse selection of cinematic, episodic, talks, music, games, art, and immersive programming, the festival will host over 600 screenings and award in 27 juried categories. There will also be concerts featuring performances from artists such as PJ Harvey, Foo Fighters, XG, Bibi, Tems, Janelle Monae, Kelly Clarkson, Stray Kids, Twice, Måneskin, Dua Lipa, and Beyoncé.

The festival will also honor above and below-the-line trailblazers, giving away 9 lifetime achievement awards in its first year. It will coincide with the launch of the Ravestar Film Institute (RFI) a year-round non-profit arts organization dedicated to the preservation and distribution of creative works.

For Ananda: in jury films are any films eligible for any awards voted on by the committee. Preview films are early screeners that cannot compete for anything. Premieres also cannot compete. A Runner on a filming set is someone who does all the menial labor: the assistants, the interns, people who get things where they need to be and make sure everyone has all the tools they need to get through the production day.

The Runner Film Festival replaces the Tribeca Film Festival.

Opening is the premiere of Barbie on July 21st, featuring a pop-up event at the Backyard at Hudson Yards.
